Membership
The York Guild is just one of two Scriveners Guilds in England, the other being in London. Given York's role as the historic capital of Yorkshire, the opportunity to belong to the Guild is offered across the whole of the county.
Full Membership
Traditionally, the Guild will accept direct applications for membership from any formally qualified accountant, lawyer, barrister, notary, chartered secretary, actuary or similar occupations.
But the Guild takes a broader view of membership these days and will accept applications from other professional kindred spirits from the world of the written and printed word. Such a person would need to be nominated by an existing full member and seconded by another.
The Guild will also consider applications for membership by patrimony. Such a person would also need to be nominated by an existing full member and seconded by another.
